To indicate the presence of an engineered nanomaterial hazard.
DESCRIPTION: A hexagonal carbon lattice reversed out of a circular hub inscribed in a pointed trefoil. The hub represents an abstract atom or atomic particle. The trefoil's diminishing black dots symbolize the introduction of dangerous nano-scale material into the environment. The use of a trefoil creates a natural and positive association with other abstract hazard symbols including biohazard and nuclear hazard.
